Philippines Transit Visa
The Philippines' 9(b) Transit Visa is issued to travellers who need to enter the country briefly during a transit journey to another destination. The stay is limited to 72 hours and is not eligible for extension.
When Is a Transit Visa Required?
- You need to pass through immigration during transit.
- You plan to leave the airport at some point.
- You are changing airports or terminals that require entry clearance.
- You intend to stay outside the airport, such as in a hotel.
When a Transit Visa Is Not Required
No transit visa is required for travellers who stay within the airport’s transit zone without clearing immigration.
Transit Visa Entry and Validity
- Entry Type → Single Entry.
- Validity → Must be used within 3 months from issuance.
Documents Needed to Apply for a Philippines Transit Visa
Core Application Documents
- A Passport valid for at least 6 months.
- Minimum 2-3 blank passport pages.
- Completed and signed visa application form (FA Form No. 2).
- 2 recent photos taken within the last 6 months.
- Personal History Form (if required).
Travel Proof for Your Transit Stay
- Confirmed onward flight ticket or travel itinerary.
- Proof of departure within 72 hours of arrival.
- Valid visa for your next destination (if required).
- Hotel booking or proof of accommodation (if requested).
Proof Of Finance
- Bank statements for the last 6 months (bank-stamped).
- Employment proof or supporting documents (if requested).
Note: Additional documents may be requested after reviewing your application. To allow sufficient processing time, submit your application well in advance of your planned travel.
Submitting Your Application for a Philippines Transit Visa
- Fill out the transit visa application accurately.
- Submit the application with all required documents.
- Pay the visa processing fee at the embassy or consulate.
- Wait for processing and collect the visa once issued.
Note: Transit visas are processed through embassies or consulates and are not issued through the eVisa system.
Processing Time
The duration of visa processing depends on the embassy or consulate. Submit your application well in advance of travel.
Transit Visa Fee
The embassy or consulate sets the visa fee, which must be paid when submitting your application.
Arrival in the Philippines During Transit
- Submit your passport and transit visa for inspection at immigration.
- Show your onward ticket and supporting documents if requested.
- Complete your eTravel registration before arrival and keep proof ready.
- Proceed with your onward journey within the authorised transit period.

- The Transit Visa is strictly for transit purposes only.
- You must leave the Philippines within the approved transit period.
- Final entry permission is granted at the discretion of immigration authorities upon arrival.
